It's a tricky problem. I already add a bit of padding around the edges of each icon to increase their surface area. However if I add too much it becomes a problem when icons are close together. When this happens, the hidden padding might overlap another nearby icons so when you click on an icon it might activate the wrong station. Unfortunately I'm not sure there is an easy solution to the problem without some sort of nearby detection algorithm which would prompt the user to select which station they were interested in.
